In a Cold World -
Going Home
Two figures in rain gear walk close together in a winter street — the dark geometry of unfriendly buildings receding behind them. The scene is ordinary enough: people simply being somewhere cold, hurrying home. . But a fine mesh overlays everything, turning the image into a grid of tiny dots, as though the moment has been caught mid-transmission, converted into signal before it could fully arrive.
What survives the pixelation?. One figure glows amber and orange from within their hood — a small furnace against the dark grey of the winter street. The other is wrapped in deep magenta, a different heat, more muted. Together they form the only colour, the only warmth, the only flick of humanity this scene has to offer.
The image asks what happens when the ordinary is looked at long enough, and hard enough, so that it ceases to be ordinary at all.
