Two Suns -
A Lakeside at the Edge of Night

The sky has been swallowed by black. Below it, a lakeside promenade hovers in pale, almost bleached light – ghostly, overexposed, barely there. A sailboat drifts on the water. Trees stand at the margins. The world is recognisable, but drained.

And then the street lamps. Transformed by the image into two radiant starbursts, they dominate the upper half like small suns or dandelion clocks frozen in the act of dispersal. Their rays extend with geometric precision into the darkness, too perfect, too symmetrical – more like diagrams of light than light itself. Between them, a line of birds crosses the frame in quiet formation, indifferent to the drama above and below.

The image splits cleanly: black void above, white dissolution below, and these two luminous structures holding the boundary between them.

In the dark, even a streetlamp can become a star.
