Of all the works in this series, this is the most tender.

Wild grasses rise against a wash of pale blue and warm gold – a sky, a reflection, a colour field that needs no further explanation. Their seed heads are rendered with extraordinary precision: each tiny ellipse distinct, each stem tracing its own arc through the luminous ground. And over it all, raindrops cling to an invisible surface in the foreground, adding a further layer of transparency, of in-between.

The image breathes. Where other works in this series burn or fracture or dissolve, this one simply trembles. The layering – grass behind glass behind light – creates a depth that is more felt than measured.

There is no intervention here that announces itself. The world has been quietly rearranged into something that resembles a Japanese ink painting seen through a rainwashed window.

Fragility, it turns out, has its own kind of permanence.
