Harbour night

Harbour Night -
The City at the Edge of the Lake

A lakeside scene pushed to the edge of night. The sky is an impossible cobalt – too saturated to be real, too beautiful to question. Autumn trees burn rust and amber against it, their warmth the only softness in a scene of deep contrasts.

The foreground dissolves into a strange no-man's-land: pale gravel and white grasses rendered almost photographic in their precision, while the middle ground retreats into rich darkness peppered with small green lights like distant embers. To the right, a harbour building announces itself with a glowing cyan sign the one legible, commercial intrusion into an otherwise dreamlike landscape.

The image holds two moods simultaneously: the romantic grandeur of a nocturne and the quiet unease of a world colour-shifted just past the point of comfort.

The lake is still there. But the night has made it its own.
